Knitting Olympics Day 14 - One Down in a Blaze of Glory
Sock number 7 is essentially done. I say "essentially" because I still have to weave in all of the ends with the flames, but I will do that today so I can see what I'm doing. I also will start the 8th and final sock for the Knitting Olympics and hope to make it past the leg flames before bedtime tonight. Actually, I should say that I hope to make it past the leg flames before the Figure Skating Long Program tonight, since I probably won't be knitting too much during that. I can't wait to finish these so I can block them. I don't think they look too bad right now, but I can't wait to see them all blocked. You guys are cracking me up with all the comments on these socks - I can't believe there are that many people out there who ALSO think flame socks are a good idea!
With all of the socks I've done in the last 2 weeks, there is a dent in my sock yarn stash. I will be adding to the stash again soon, but I thought I'd ask you guys: What is your favorite sock yarn and why? I'm allergic to acrylic so even if it gives free foot massages all day, if it has acrylic, it can't come home with me. Leave your sock yarn suggestions in the comments!

So far, I'm in love with Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport. Granted, it's only the third sock yarn I've tried, but it's just so nice!
I've got some Socks That Rock on it's way to me, and I'm interested to see how it knits up. Everyone else seems to love it, but that doesn't always mean a win with me.
I love the flaming sock! My favorite sock yarns are Socks that rock, and Lorna's Laces sock yarn. For mindless sock knitting I like Opal and Knitpick's self striping yarns.
You are incredible! How many socks does that make now? I'll be lucky if I finish the one lousy pair I have to to get the gold medal....and they're just plain old boring socks (on size fours no less!)
I can't wait to try that handspun you admired. The stuffies book you can find at the Japanese bookstore I mentioned (can't remember how to spell it now - and forget pronouncing it!) Just click on the link. Quick and easy cuteness!
Do you think I've strayed too far from the knitting blog theme?
First of all I love your blog, second I really like Opal yarns alot and Hot Socks yarn is great . I havent' tried STR but I am seeing on blogs that it is loved!! Lovin' Blaze (flamin') socks.
Merino, Merino, Merino!!! That's my fave. Of course, I've only used Baby Ull and handpainted yarn for socks and a little Knitpicks palette. I've never had a chance to try Kiogu, Lorna's Laces or Socks that Rock. Oh, I'm feeling so out of the loop now. Must.... Resist.... Shopping!
I love the sock. It's great. I can't say I have a favorite sock yarn yet; I've used many, but have more waiting in the stash, and I haven't used the same one twice yet.
My fave is Hello Yarn (www.helloyarn.com) if she has sock yarn, it's so worth it! She updates every 2 weeks and I'm still hoping she'll have some more sock yarn soon!
I just saw that Spuncky Eclectic (http://www.spunkyhats.com/acc_yarn.htm) has some sock yarn as well! I haven't tried that, but I have tried her other yarns and she's great at deying and such, so I'm sure her sock yarns will be great!
And I do like Regia ...
you posted a picture of a dog and a cat and i have to admit, i sent it to both my parents. the cat looks just like my parent's cat. no joke. i couldn't believe it. they call her saturn and she has a kink in her tail.
