What's On My Needles, You Ask?

Good Morning!  I hope everyone has a fabulous 2023 and wish only the best of things to you and your families!

After showing all my finished projects last week/last year, I promised you an update of my current projects, and here it is!

Easy peasy socks

As soon as I finished the Mischief Socks I cast on for the Easy Peasy Socks by the same designer.  I also decided to use the same yarns as I had plenty left over.  I used the Main Color from the Mischief Socks (Dream in Color Smooshy in My Fair Lady) as the Contrast Color for this pair; and -I bet you know where I'm going here- I used the Contrast Color from the Mischief Socks (Madelinetost Twist Light in Antique Lace) for the Main Color (it's the background) of these.  I've finished the first sock (but woven in no ends yet), and I'm working on the second sock, but at the moment, the socks are on hold as I work on my next project!

Caleb’s Flannel pullover

In November of 2021 I decided to knit Caleb a sweater.  At that point he was still at the Galveston Campus of Texas A&M, but Galveston had gotten snow and ice like the rest of Texas that previous February, so clearly he was in danger of being cold.  I had no idea that a few months later he would change his major, and change campuses. (College Station is farther north, therefore colder.  Quit laughing at me, Minnesota.) When I bought the yarn I had planned to make him the sweater for this past Christmas and I got some measurements this past summer.  Then I realized that it might be better to double check things with him before I spent all the time and effort to make something he didn't want.  (He's a very knitworthy kid, but I wanted to make sure he was happy with it.)  So when he was home for Thanksgiving I showed him the yarn (Malabrigo Rios in Gris) and the pattern I originally planned to make him as well as a couple more.  He liked the yarn and chose the original pattern I had picked - Justin's Flannel, but made longer and a bit looser than the pattern model.  My plan was to cast on and get past the sleeve/body division by the time he came home from finals so I could try it on him and finish it to the length he wanted.  I'm running a little behind, but he did try it on for the first time yesterday and it's fitting really well.  I've got sleeve measurements now and only a few more inches of body to knit before we have to make decisions about the lower edging.  My goal is to get it finished before he goes back to school so he'll have it for the coldest part of our winter, which is usually late January and into February.  I am trying to have it all done by next Friday, and I think I'm going to make it. The pattern is well written, the stitch pattern is super easy to memorize and I'm past all the shaping at the top of the sweater.  Fingers are crossed that I can get this finished!
