A Second Sock and A Mission

I can't get pictures to load today, but if I could you would see the second Chapman Springs Socks That Rock sock here worked halfway through the gusset. Its moving along nicely and I hope to finish it today.

Those of you who mentioned Sock Wars, I appreciate it, but I feel like in order to really fight that battle I'd have to devote all of my primary knitting time to it. I have some ideas for some patterns I'd rather get designed and written up this Fall and then I can just knit socks when I need a break from my other knitting.

I have a problem and I'm hoping you guys can help me. I'm looking for a new coat and I have a general idea of what I want but I can't find it. I'm hoping someone out there will know something. The coat I want is a wool or wool blend (no acrylic - I'm allergic), its black or possibly dark grey, its a jacket length - I want it shorter than a car coat or a 3/4 length coat, it needs a bit of shaping, and it has to come in a size Small. I've found a couple of "almosts" but either they didn't come in my size in black or it has real fur trim. I'm not opposed to fake fur, but I don't feel comfortable with real fur. Anyone know where to try? Post links and/or store names in the comments. Thanks!

Hi Melanie,
Regarding uploading pictures I was having problems too in the beginning then I downloaded Firefox for free - and I upload all my photos under that and have never had a problem. Try it. I believe I went to www.cnet.com and used one of their free downloads. I'd love to hear how you made out if you try it.

How can you even think about a coat right now? I saw on the weather this morning that DC is supposed to be 101 today, so we have the same weather this year! I've been sweating just walking from my car to the office door! I sat outside for lunch last week because it felt so good. I got in my car and found out it was 94 outside. As your mother said, that is sick!

Good luck on your coat quest! Mindy

Cute puppy!
Socks, socks everywhere!
Pretty soon you will have a pair for every day of the year.
Or have you gotten there already and are starting the next year worth?
All I can say is wow.

Are you talking about a Navy Pea Coat? One of those would look great on you and they are timeless as far as style. You can find them at any surplus shop.

If that's not what you are looking for, have you considered making a coat? I know of a place online where you can get wool coating for about $10 a yard (that's half price!) Let me know and I will give you the link.

i don't think j crew's fall catalogue is out yet, but they usually have very nice coat styles - and every style is usually available in black.

Have you thought about LL Bean? I have my coat from them, it's a very classic dressy look and I love it. Plus, they definitely have black and a couple of different lengths.
