Look What’s Back!

The Hexipuffs showed up this weekend!

Which is more than I can say about the Denver Broncos.

Hexipuffs

yarma
I have a few more hexipuffs finished.  Since I was pulling them out of their project bag to weave in the ends and put them into the Finished Hexipuff Bag, I thought I'd just share them quickly.  Last time I shared my hexipuffs, there was a question about what they were.  Well, Caleb and Max like to try to swipe them (Max thinks they need killing, Caleb just likes to squish them), but their real purpose is to make one of these.  I'm making Finished Hexipuff Bags of 50, figuring it will be easier to know how many I've got, but so far, I only have one bag of 50.  I'm working on my second bag now.

Yes, this is a long term project that will drag on for thousands of years, why do you ask?

Not Much to See Here

yarma
I didn't get any knitting done over the weekend.  Not a stitch.  It was a truly lazy weekend.  Weekends like that are nice periodically, but it means there's nothing to show on the blog either.  These hexipuffs? I made them last week.  It's the only knitting I have around here that I can show you, that you haven't seen before (although we all know you've seen hexipuffs, just not these hexipuffs).  Max tried to steal one as I was finishing their photo, when I turned to set down my phone.  Fortunately, I can count to four in an uncaffeinated state, so I rescued the one he'd puff-napped.

Hopefully today I'll get some knitting done (along with the giant pile of laundry), but it might just be a sleeve.  Yes, I'm still working on my cardi.

Hexipuff Day!

DSCN0717
It's time to show off the new hexipuffs!   Seven, bright, new hexipuffs for the collection!  I've been making white ones and I clearly need to weave in some ends.  I'll get the ends woven in before I toss them into the bag.  I've got to replenish my stuffing bag that goes in the hexipuff bag - I'm almost out.  It's amazing how little stuffing each of these guys takes.  If I'm counting right, I think this makes 63 hexipuffs total.  I've got a long way to go!

Hexipuffs

DSCN0669
Just swinging by the blog to show you the week's new hexipuffs!  I realize this is quite possibly one of the most boring blog posts ever (look - more hexipuffs!), but it keeps me going on them when I really wanted to bring Cladonia to the gym yesterday instead of working hexipuffs.  They are fun to knit and they really freak people out when they make the mistake of asking what I'm knitting.  They just kind of back away slowly and you can see them thinking of the sheer number of these silly little things I'll have to make for a blanket.  I love freaking people out with knitting, don't you?

Hexipuffs Again

DSCN0604
I did eight more hexipuffs over the weekend because I just wanted something brainless and easy to work on.  I also sorted my hexipuff yarn, restocked the stuffing bag that rides around with my hexipuffs and counted how many I had.
DSCN0610
See this bag?  There are 48 hexipuffs in this Ziploc bag right now.  I'll do two more sometime this week and then start another bag.  50 hexipuffs per bag doesn't squish them and it will make them easier to count when I start getting enough to actually start putting them together. It's also a Max/Logan/dust proof storage solution and as long as Caleb doesn't ever see it, I should be fine.  I feel like I'm actually starting to get somewhere with this project!

We Interrupt This Sock To Bring You Hexipuffs!

DSCN0573
I've made four more hexipuffs!  I can make two while Caleb works out at the gym, so these are Monday's and Wednesday's hexipuffs.  Can I take a minute and tell you how deeply I love the color Cove?  (The two matching hexipuffs with the robin's egg blue and the golden olive are Madelinetosh Tosh Sock in the color Cove.)  I love blue (it's my favorite color) so that part of my love of Cove I get.  I'm just ok with olive and if it leans gold, and this does, I'm really not much of a fan.  There's something about this combination of colors though, the way it looks like water in a mountain stream or at the edge of a rocky lake (or maybe water in a cove?) that just grabs me and won't let go.  I used Cove in my Color Affection and liked it so much I used it for the outer solid border even though I was "supposed" to use my darkest color (according to the pattern).  When I picked it up to knit hexipuffs with it, I felt that same connection to the color that I did when I used it in Color Affection.  This color speaks to me.  I find myself trying to find more things to knit using Cove or thinking maybe I should stash it in all the Madelinetosh bases in case they discontinue it.  I can't really explain my love for Cove in words, but be prepared to see more Cove here around the blog.  Unfortunately, I'm now out of Cove after knitting these two Hexipuffs, so in the meantime I will love them and squeeze them and call them "George."

A Little More Sock

DSCN0547
I'm past the heel flap and heel turn and working the gusset decreases!  There were also two hexipuffs created yesterday!  I had to get out the hexipuff pattern because I'd totally forgotten how to make a hexipuff, but now the pattern is in the hexipuff box so I can make them anytime!  As you can see, I'm playing with adding some muted/pastel color to the original all pale neutral color scheme.  Max approves, but he hasn't quite explored the possibilities of the hexipuffs - he was more interested in trying to steal my sock needles this morning.  I don't know if you can see it yet or not, but I'm doing the sole of the sock in stockinette and keeping the instep in the original stitch pattern.  The stitch pattern has some texture to it and I don't think it would be comfortable to walk on.

On a completely unrelated note, I have a question.  This summer Caleb got very excited when we found him a "Save the Narwhal" t-shirt.  I had never heard of a narwhal (and had to google the silly thing to find out if it was even a real animal -it is).  Yesterday we went to the middle school (how did this happen?) to get Caleb's schedule and get school stuff.  On the front cover of the agenda (designed for the school by one of the students last year) are, among other things, three narwhals.  Then, innocently wandering through Ravelry, I find these - Narwhal Mittens.  So for the love of sheep, can someone please explain what is up with all the narwhals?  They're everywhere!
