Still Crocheting Away Here

Virus blanket

I've gotten into some color changes on my crochet, scrap blanket now!  As the blanket gets bigger and bigger, it eats yarn faster and faster.  It's about 18-20 inches square right now (maybe, I haven't measured and I'm not looking at it right now so this is from memory).  As before, I don't have a definite size in mind for this, I'll just quit when I run out of yarn that works with the colors I've chosen.

I started with Malabrigo Ultimate Sock in Sabiduria, followed by Dream in Color Smooshy in My Fair Lady, Sweet Georgia Yarns Tough Love Sock in Mink, and Madelinetosh Twist Light in Kitten (which is photographing much lighter than it is in person).  I'm not really doing anything special when I run out of a color.  When I get to the last six inches or so of what I'm using, I start the next color and crochet over the ends.  There's no thought or planning as to where I change colors, it just happens when I run out.  If I was only using two or three colors that might look weird, but I think with as many colors as I have pulled out for this blanket, and the fact that they blend into a fade of some kind, it's going to work.  Fingers crossed!

Socks!

Shell Cottage socks

I've started a new pair of socks!  These are the Shell Cottage Socks, from the Handmade Sock Society, Season 2.  I didn't participate in this season, but I really liked the patterns and decided to go back and buy the set.  I'm knitting these in Sweet Georgia Yarns Tough Love Sock in Bubble Wand.  I'm also using a tiny bit of Melon from the Sweet Georgia Yarns Tough Love Sock Party of Five in Botanica.  I cast on with the Melon and then worked the first two rounds before switching to the Bubble Wand.  I like the way this works just to give a little bit of an accent to the edge.

Also, yes, Formula 1 is back to racing and I've gotten the first leg finished and have just barely started the heel flap.  This is a very easy stitch pattern to memorize, and doesn't need too much attention.

Have a great week, and May the Fourth Be With You!
